    Sharing Major News

I have some news that I wanted to share but before I shared it online I wanted to share it with my family. Awhile back now I met a wonderful man-his name is Adil and you can say this he is my man! I have loved getting to know him, and everything about him. He sent me some pictures of a recent trip where he was part of a camp forv youth in Morocco. Adil has now had the chance to get to know my mom and sister a wee bit so now I am sharing him with you all.

    What a week

We have been so very busy here in Nova Scotia I hadnt had the chance to uopdate here.

First we have been hit with lots of rain while we have been here. I want some sun please! Well we actually got it for the weekend and that is what counted right!
One eveing last weekend we drove out to Caribou Point. There is a beautiful lighthouse there and you can watch the sunset over the ocean. It is a very beutiful spot. It was breath taking to watch. Makes you appreciate nature even more.

We also finally got Roo to a ocean beach on Saturday. That was alot of fun even if the water was very very COLD! We went in! WE also went Rock and shell hunting. That was fun and Roo is bringing home a baggie of each. Where we were was very private and it was as if you owned a piece of heaven. It was another beautiful spot.

On Sunday we drove into Halifax. Our first stop of day was my sister's hair salon at Dartmoth Crossing, we got to have lunch with her and my one neice and then it was off to thier house to pick up the other niece for an afternoon at the Busker's Festival. It was wall to wall people along the wharf but Roo got to have fun, and so did y niece. Then we went back to my sisters where we all gathered for a very nice chinesse dinner. After dinner we decided to go up to our old neighbourhood and have ice cream at Dairy Queen. Roo had her first Blizzard! Then it was back to my sisters to relax.

On Monday the whole gang of us got in a car and the truck and we headed up to Dollar Lake for a day of swimming and a family barbeque. It was great just to spend the day hanging out together. It was beautiful and fun but we all got a bit too much sun!

Today we are back at my mom's, she is exhausted so today is a quieter day. Rest is much needed! The trip is going really well.

    Pictou

Today Mom wasn't feeling well, so Roo and I went on our own adventure. We went into the town of Pictou and went to the Hector Heritage Quay. We visited the Muesem and then went aboard the Hector( an old ship that brought settlers to New Scotland). It was cool to learn about the hstory of the Hector and Pictou. Who knew it was such an important port? After that Roo and I took a stroll along the mail street of Pictou. I love this little town. Roo bought some soveniers and we checked out  some of the shops, but you could sure tell you were in a tourist area when looking at the prices. After our day out I came home and made dinner- spaghetti and meatballs with salad and garlic bread. I also premade a meatloaf that we will have for dinner on Wednesday. Tonight it is a eveing of relaxing at my mother's.

    Quieter Day

Today was a quieter day on our trip as my mom is still recovering from being very ill earlier this year and tires so very quickly. Personally I think having a ten year old around all day is hard on her. So today Roo helped with a yard sale that they had here and then we feed the horses. We also did a puzzle and played darts in the lounge.I am so very tired as well-maybe it is all the fresh air. Tonight we went to the General Store for icecream cones. A quieter day but a good one.

    Bay of Fundy

Today mom's neighbour Garnet took Mom, Roo and me to Five Islands and to the Bay of Fundy. This bay has the World's Largest Tides! When we got there this morning the tide was out and you could see fishing boats on the sand. After taking a peek of where the tide was we headed for lunch and then took Roo to Parrsboro to the Geological Muesem there. Roo was able to check out all the rocks and even see a few dinosaur fossils. She even painted a ceramic one. After that we headed to one of the beaches. Roo,Garnet, Opal and I took a walk out into the bay as the tide was just beginning to come back in. Roo loved looking for shells. We even found some crabs! She loved seeing everything in its natual habitat. After our time in the Bay we visited with Garnet's family who lives nearby and then it was time to head back to Mom's. We are home here this eveing.

    First Day in Scottsburn

Today was our first full day here at my mom's and it has been a busy one. We took Roo to see her first real farm. It was a vegetable farm and we went and picked up fresh vegetables. Roo loved seeing how things grow. Roo really wants fresh corn on the cob and in this neck of the woods it will not be ready till about August 15th. After that stop it was off to Tim Hortons for coffee and timbits. Then  we hit the grocery store here to stock up the cupboards for the 2 weeks. After we got home Roo and I took a walk in the village to see what was here. On the walk Roo picked cat tails for grandma. We also bought Roo an icecream at the local general store.

After getting home finally I made chineese food for dinner and tonight my mom and I will watch the start of the Olympics together. So far it is a good visit.

    Arrived in Scottsburn Nova Scotia

Arrived in Truro Nova Scotia one hour and 45 minutes late today. Other then that the trip east was pretty good. Roo did lose her favorite stffed toy in Montrea though and that has been the tradegy of the trip thus far. Hopefully we get him back when we go through Montreal on the way back.

Rachel has gotten her first taste of of the ocean. So far it she thinks it is good. Well I am very tired. So will post most later.

It will be good to see my mom and sister. For Rachel and I am sure the next 16 days will be a real adventure. I hope to post as much as I can about the trip and to use this space to journal our trip!

This morning 2 suitcases, and 2 backpacks are at the ready, the house is nice and tidy ( who wants to come home to a mess after all) and we are relaxing just before we head to the train station. I have uploaded pics of us ready to go!

    The Beginings of Summer Fun

Well with school out, its time for FUN!! Yesterday we went and helped with the community lunch program that I volunteer at, then we hit a splash park and then went to get the first books for our summer reading program. Roo chose " Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire" as her first read. Then it was time to come home and watch dvds that we had rented from the library too. Got to love the library!

Today it was hot and humid here. So what does one do when it is hot and humid?   We walked to the large outdoor pool. It has a twirling slide and everything so this will be a favorite place of ours to hang this summer! I love to watch Roo and how she interacts with other kids. She is so outgoing and kind. Today Roo met some new friends at the pool and it was fun to watch her interact with the other kids.

    Report Card Day

Today is the day  before the last day of school. So report cards were handed out  and we find out who is teaching next year. Roo  had a good year overall. There were several blimps along the way, but overall she had a year that saw lots of growth.    There was some extra good news today. The one teacher I didnt want teaching Roo next year is not teaching at her school. What a sigh of relief that was. Roo needs more structure where is weak and while in this teacher's room Roo did not get what she needed and I feared a repeat next year, as there is only one teacher for the program in the school.

Got to say I am a proud momma!

    Rain Rain Go Away

Well today there were more storms.  This month have been full  of rain storms.   Lightening  and thunder have been all around.  Really I wish the really warm summer days would come. I find myself longing for the heat!  Is anyone else tired of the rain?

    Summer Time 2008 Begins

Well my fellow blogger friend  Brenda gave me an idea...using  my MSN blog to track our  family summer fun..

Well summer holidays for us truely begin in 4 days. School is out  on Wednesday. Yesterday   my daughter Roo had her final assembly though and she won one of the ACE awards for Perservance and Success. Roo has had a very hard yet great year at school in  so many ways. My lil girl aint that lil anymore as she truely has  become a preteen...Can I start pulling my  hair out now?

But today we began our summer adventures with Roo, her best bud and I headed down to the Harborfront for the Nautical festical. The BluenoceII came to dock here in To so of course it  being  a Canadian symbol and a part of Nova Scotia we  had to go and see it. It was so much fun..it   makes me long for Nova Scotia. I cant wait for our trip east this year. I havr not been home in over 10 years.

So we toured the deck of the Bluenose II, then Roo and best bud played in the sand at the  H2O park while I listened to the sounds of the Maritimes. After hanging out there for a bit it was time to head for a bite to eat. We decided upon Shoeless Joe's. Basically a sports themed restraunt right down bu the water. Food  was good. Service was slow, especially when you have two preteens with you.

Then it was time to get home, as the rain clouns formed.

    Lucky Weekend

Okay I have a new wee hobby. Entering contests! Yeppers I am one of them...Now I dont enter if I have to spend a penny and so far this year we have been very lucky! From the Keith Urban win, to this weekend we have been winning every week something! This weekend the wins were small but they were wins. I took Roo to the mall on Saturday. We hit Zellers( the Canadian Target) and of course being Sat they had in store displays happening where if you stop and listen you get entered into a draw ---well Roo walked away with a mini flower rodium necklace( it really is quite cute!) and today I just got an email that I won a Color from Natural Match! So we are on a winning path....maybe I should go out and buy that lottery tickect!

Well I better get here...Roo is home! Spring break is here so we have made a list of fun things we are going to do this week. Today is our Beach day at home....so come sand and water play .....oh and if it really hits 50 here this week will have to get out to the park if it aint too wet.

    shh! I have a Secret!

Okay I am one who beleives that OUR creator brings things into our lives for our benefit, we may not know why we go through certain fires but we are to go through them to be our better selfs...I have believed this belief since I have been very young. It has been because of this belief that even when the worst days have come I have been able to bear them.....that is part of Faith!

Then along comes the The Secret...and if you dont know what I am writing about you are under a rock! I watched the movie yesterday and should be getting the book today. As I watched the movie there was much that I thought WOW yeah that is kind of how I think on this and this and this but I am unsure about energy force existenece and all of that so how can I as a christian Mom be a beleiver in the Secret....

Well let me pull out some of my favorite bible verses and tell yeah why?

First lets go back to the begining In genesis it tells us we are made in the image of the creator right? That means we have HIS traits deep within us and one of those is that we can CREATE! (Genesis1:26) Think of the everyday we create so much of our days by what we decide to think and do and these are changable at any moment and that is a very awesome power within each of us.

Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. For me as I follow him and make him my priority HE knows the desires of my heart.  In that heart lies the VISION of what I want, it is where my hopes and dreams are.

In John Jesus said that He came to give life and an abudant one at that! What a promise is that to hang on to....

I could go on and on but this gal is just thankful that the SECRET really was revealed to man thousands of years ago and most of it can be found in the bible!.....so yes I have the SECRET it is a life of faith, it is a life a direct action, it is a life of gratitude and yes I am willing to share my SECRET with you.

So what do you all think of THE SECRET?

    The law of 3

One day the great philosopher came upon an acquaintance that ran up to him excitedly and said, “Socrates, do you know what I just heard about one of your students?”

“Wait a moment,” Socrates replied. ”Before you tell me your story I’d like you to pass a little test. It’s called the Test of Three.”

“The test of three?” asked the man.

“That’s right,” Socrates continued. “Before you talk to me about my student, let’s take a moment to test what you’re going to say. The first is the
Test of Truthfulness. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?”

“No,” the man said, “actually I just heard about it.”

“All right,” said Socrates. “So you don’t really know if it’s true or not. Now let’s try the second test, the
Test of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my student something good?”

    “No, on the contrary…”

“So,” Socrates continued, “you want to tell me something bad about him even though you’re not certain it’s true?”

The man shrugged, a little embarrassed.

Socrates continued. “You may still pass though, because there is a third test - this test is the
Test of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my student going to be useful to me in light of your other two answers?”

    “No, not really…”

“Well,” concluded Socrates, “if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all? I am not interested in gossip.”

So are u a gossip? I know I can be. Cant help it, oh yes I can! I am trying so hard not to be a gossip and I find these 3 rules are very useful as we try and judge if what we are about to say is gossip.  Is it good, is it useful, are you sure it is true....yep I think those are good guidlines!

TV Viewing and thoughts on Our Soldiers

Well with the broken ankle I have been doing some tv watching....Got to admit more then I should! What am I watching?

Lost, The Amazing Race, and American Idol and during the day I watch The View.

Lost sometimes confuses me as I try and get the story line, or guess what is going to happen to next. I love the Amzing Race and wouldnt it be great to race around the world--so cheering for the coalminers! American Idol all I can say is I can see an feamle finale! Melinda and Lakisha blow like no others! On the guy side Blake is my man followed by Chris. and well I love the View as they give there views!

Yesterday they spoke about how much of war we DO NOT see. This I KNOW is so true. WE in the past 5 years have never really seen the hardships or casulaities of war...coffins coming home have NOT been properly honored since the beginning days of the war on terror. I remember Ainsworth's funeral well( he was one of Canada's first soldiers to die in the Afgan conflict)....we as a nation made a huge deal of losing those 4--funerals were carried on the news networks and the Govener General attended the funeral but what have we done since? It is as if our soldiers are forgotten and the wars are a faraway issue that we dont want to see on a daily basis. Why?

This month is Soldier Support month so I would love to encourage all to support your nations soldiers! They are there fighting a war, and trying to rebuild a nation so they can come home. Canada is NO longer leading the world as we are no longer mere peace keepers which is a shame. Our nation has changed direction....and it is as if many of us at home simply dont care. So lets show how much we do. England(where my cuz serves) is bringing thiers home. The US and Canada have made many mistakes on this so called path of world security, but like i am unsure what the fix is. AS I talk to friends from these countries they too are unsure what the fix is....but a fix needs to come.
Lets see if we can bring our men and women home and honor them and encourage them as we should.

What to do when You Break Bones

Well it has been a really quiet week since breaking my ankle. Roo has been fetch it gal extraordnaire! She has been amzingly well behaved and MOM is milking it!! Just had my lunch deleivered to me ---sandwich and glass of diet coke--no I dont let her do real cooking yet. She makes great bagels and cream cheese, toast and peanut butter,  sandwichs, and toaster pancakes. She can also make a cup of hot choclate. So she has been making our breakfasts and lunches and I have been ordering dinner in...although the PIZZA lasted 2 days.

I have also been reading lots and playing tic tac toe, doing word searches, and watching movies....this weekend we watched Man of the Year with Robin Williams. I loved the movie but maybe I am biased because I love Robin! The morale of the movie though that we should be voting for a person NOT a process or special intersts is something that needs to be acknowlendged more.  I often wonder how much a canidate owes to those who help get him into office. Maybe mom thinks too much!

Tonight is Oscar night! Are you ready? Since I am already house bound YES I will be watching...I have some that I am cheering for and would love to see win...we have a few CAnadians in the running like Ryan Gosling who doesnt have a real chance to win but nice to see him acknowledged. I am rooting for Lil Miss Sunshile for best pic as I loved the movie but think BAbel will get it. I want to see Jennifer Hudson win and feel she should. I also want Helen Murrin for the Queen to win. For animation I want Cars...we loved that movie. So there you have this moms choices! Who are you rooting for or what did you think of the results?

    Ouch Ouch Ouch

Okay Wednesday started off well, got up early had a great early am with Roo and sent her off to school( she was walking with my neighbour as I was headed to a meeting).....and I got  two houses away on my street and hit ICE! My ankle went over and under and crack it was broken!
The sheer pain in that moment was agony. After a minute of just laying there I used a brick wall to kinda pull myself up. I was very fortunate as the owner of that house got home from work at about that time, saw my pain and ended up driving me to the emergency room. I was there for about 4 hours and found out I have a subtle break and lots of tears around the ankle. OUCH! I taxied home and grabbed Roo from school on the way back. She has been Miss Lil Nurse since Wednesday and she has been my fetch it queen, I am blessed because she is SO caring! She simply wants to care for her mom. I have an aircast so I can elevate and ice it and I have been doing that for 2 days now.  I have also been chewing T3's like they are candy. One of my friends from church came over tonight and helped me do a few things around the house that I simply cant do. For that tooo I am so thankful. Well I need to get back to my bed...take care all!
